We met on the first day of college at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. It was during all of the freshman orientation ice breakers and (after Wes creeped on me) we got into the same group and never left each other’s side. We sat by each other at the orientation meeting where we talked the whole time and he slyly got my phone number. We met up again that evening at the dance where we danced with each other. We spent the whole weekend together and had our first date the next week.

Our first date was supposed to be at the movies. But, we were both new to the area so we couldn’t find it. So after driving around aimlessly, we ended up at a state park where we went and sat by the river and talked. It felt so natural. We both just talked about ourselves, what we wanted to do with our lives. It was magic.

Wes- First day we met. I instantly felt a pull towards her. And once we started talking, we just lost track of time. Before I knew it, I had to leave for soccer, so I had to think of a way to keep her interested and not want to meet other guys. So I used a Harry Potter pick up line to get her phone number. And that’s when I knew.

Bethany-I’d say the first day we met, too. I was automatically just pull to him and I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time we talked that first day. It was just so natural and I just felt myself saying things to him that only my close friends knew, and after his Harry Potter pick up line, I was like well maybe this could really be something.

We got engaged on March 30, 2018 which was our 4 year anniversary. He asked me to marry him the same way he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was very us. We had been to NYC the week before and I thought he was going to do it there, but he never did. And we were going to Disney within a few weeks and I expected it there. But he surprised me! On our anniversary, we were going to order pizza (like we did when he asked me out) and he told me to order it from his computer while he went to get his card. So I opened up the computer and on the screen was a picture of Wes holding a sign asking me to marry him and the other hand held the ring. I turn around and he’s on one knee.

Wes- Freshman year, we were in her room and she was showing me music she liked. I was so nervous. She told me about this guy named Ed Sheeran and said that there were too many songs that she thought I would like, and then said “so, Kiss Me or Wake Me Up?” I freaked out and probably started sweating because I was like she wants me to kiss her or wake her up? What?! Turns out, that was two Ed Sheeran songs and she wanted me to choose between them.

Bethany- I got to experience Disney World with him! It was my first time going ( I don’t count when I went when I was, like, 5) and it was just such a magical time. It was our graduation gift from my parents and we got to stay the whole week at the Disney French Quarter resort. We even got to go to Pandora the day it opened! IT was truly amazing being there with him and being in that magical place.

To travel the world, have a home close to all of our family, one day have kids, and grow old together so we can continue annoying each other and loving each other unconditionally.
